The Bomb Trilogy by Bob Davidson
Bips entered three plays in the 2018 SCDA Festival Of One Act Plays.
The following is a word from our chairperson...
Hi all,
Well done to everybody that took part in the Festival yesterday. Despite the changes caused by the weather, the day went remarkably well - thanks mainly to the huge efforts made by the Festival committee to rearrange the day. A special thanks to Fran, and particularly to Ian of Perthshire SCDA for the huge organisational effort of getting everyone there on Saturday, and to the Birnam Arts staff for getting out early and clearing the snow from paths and pavements, ensuring we had a safe and successful day.
All our plays went very well, with excellent performances, and a great audience reaction. A fantastic job from each production - directors, cast and stage crew!
Eve-Marie Shore stepped in to adjudicate, as the scheduled adjudicator was unable to attend due to the weather, and, in order to allow everyone to get home through the snow, the full adjudication was replaced by a short summary. Written feedback will be sent to each team instead. We were told that the standard was very high this year and her decision was a close-run thing with only one point in it.
We came away with three trophies:
Sub Contract won the Frank Martin Award, for Scottish Life and Character
An Incident of Near International Proportions won the Allan Proctor Trophy for third place
Signature won the Sandy Miller Cup for second place
Signature will therefore be going forward to the Northern Division Finals on 22-24 March at Birnam Arts, and we look forward to supporting Lorinda, Michelle, Patti and crew on the next stage.
Finally a huge thanks to Bob, for providing three fantastic (and very different) plays for us to work with.
Well done everyone!
Pete.

Well the Divisional Festival has now come and gone and Patti and Michelle put on another cracking performance of Signature. They were up against some brilliant competition and didn't make it to the Scottish finals but their acting and the direction remained superb - well done the Signature team. A big well done to Stromness for winning the festival they were BRILLIANT!! They go through to the Scottish Final in East Kilbride along with our pals from Aberfeldy DC who came second, a big weel done to them too.
We performed all three plays in BA mid June 2018. We had good houses over our three night run and the shows were much enjoyed by the audiences some of whom came from as far as Australia, the USA and France!
If you missed it you have one more chance to catch the Bomb Trilogy and that's at the Dibble Tree Theatre, Carnoustie on 10th and 11th August 2018... following photos by Pete Barr...

We had two great nights at the brilliant Dibble Tree Theatre in Carnoustie. Everybody there made us feel very welcome and Brian was great, painting tables and stringing up lights and even putting the kettle on for us. Thanks too to Peter with his help with the screen and to Josh for doing our lighting.
Thanks also to Wendy for taking charge of the drinks, teas, coffees and biscuits and the raffle with Billy... and to Fran for arranging the whole thing in the first place. And a special thanks to all those who came along to watch. The Bomb has now been de-fused - thanks to all
PS Signature won the Scott Salver competition for best original play 2018.
